SMEDAN’s Director-General, Dikko Umaru-Radda, stated this at the Garment and Textile Growth Support Scheme, on Sunday in Katsina.

Umaru-Radda said the gesture was part of efforts by the federal government to support business people and their enterprises to lift the down trodden out of poverty.

“This kind of intervention is not only in Katsina State alone, this is the third in its series nationwide.

“We did the intervention in other places according to the senatorial districts in each of the states.

“We believe the gesture will boost garment and tailoring businesses in the country,” he said.

He reiterated that the federal government under President Muhammad Buhari, would not relent in its effort to assist medium and small business men and women in their businesses.

“We believe this is part of the dividends of democracy to the masses,” he said.

Also, Alhaji Umar Sani, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the federal government and the agency for the intervention.

SMEDAN has organised a 5-day workshop for garments and textile workers in Katsina State, and distributed machines and other accessories to the groups.
