The University of Ilorin’s (UNILORIN) GG Max Poultry Farms will soon begin operation to boost the production of eggs and chicken in the country.
Prof. Mikhail Buhari, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovations), stated this on Tuesday when he visited the farms.
Buhari said the GG MAX farms were set up through Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Poultry revival initiative.
According to him, it is a large scale integrated commercial poultry farm business for the production of eggs, live and dressed chicken, day-old chicks and poultry feeds.
Buhari explained that the farms were part of the university’s effort toward playing key role in the agro-based business and revival of the poultry sub-sector.
According to him, the project is expected to help in the production of chicken (meat) and eggs in order to reduce importation and close the existing demand and supply gap.
