The fitness walk, organised by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) was attended by staff of various insurance companies in Lagos.

The CIIN President, Dr Muftau Oyegunle, who led the walk, said that it was geared toward encouraging practitioners to always keep fit for a healthy life.

According to Oyegunle, the walk will also help to spread the insurance gospel in a bid to deepen penetration.

He noted that the fitness walk was an opportunity for insurers to show solidarity, bond together as professionals and exercise at the same time.

“The fitness walk has become a ritual for us in the industry, but unfortunately we couldn’t do it as big as we used to last year because of COVID-19.

“It is only good health that can guarantee good output. So, I urge you all to continue to exercise and keep fit.

“I appreciate the insurance companies for the large turn out this year and sponsorship too, ” he said.

The CIIN boss added that insurance professionals needed to imbibe more of quality thinking than ever, due to the reality of unfortunate happenings locally and globally.

Mr Tope Smart, President, Africa Insurance Organisation and Managing Director, NEM Insurance, said that the walk was also an avenue for insurers to collaborate and affect the society positively.

Also, Mr Rotimi Edu, the President, Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, commended CIIN for organising the walk, adding that over one million Nigerians were affected through the sensitisation.

He said that the walk was an opportunity for insurers to collaborate to deepen insurance penetration through awareness creation.

Other side attractions at the event included: aerobics and dance competition between staff of different underwriting firms.

Others, who participated in the walk include; the Director-General, Nigerian Insurers Association, Mrs Yetunde Ilori; the President, Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Mr Rotimi Edu as well as Rector, College of Insurance and Financial Management, Dr Yeside Oyetayo.

Also, the Managing Director, Guinea Insurance Plc, Mr Ademola Abidogun; the Director – General, Niger Insurance Plc, Mr Edwin Ngbit and the Director-General, CIIN, Mrs Abimbola Tiamiyu.
