The Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.40 per cent to 3,093.86 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.94 per cent higher at 11,175.12 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 666.2 billion yuan (about 94.2 billion dollars), edging down from 667.95 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to hotels, catering, and tourism sectors led the gains, while those in oil and gas exploitation and coal production suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.23 per cent to close at 2,374.74 points Tuesday.
