The workshop was organised by the by Pension Bureau in collaboration with ths state Mortgage and Foreclosure Authority.

The Executive Secretary of the state pension bureau, Prof. Salamatu Isa, said the event was to create awareness for civil servants under the contributory pension scheme.

She said that under the new policy, civil servants could access 25% of their Retirement Saving Account (RSA) balance to secure mortgage to own residential homes.

The executive secretary said that the pension bureau would commence the programme soon, which would be anchored by the state mortgage and foreclosure authority.

“I am calling on the state civil servants to take advantage of the opportunity to enable them own a residential home using mortgage facility.”

Isa described the contributory pension approach in the state as sustainable.

“Seven percent is being deducted every month from the salaries of civil servants while the state government contributes eight per cent into their RSA, which is invested,” she added.

Yahaya Lere, Executive Secretary Kaduna state mortgage and foreclosure authority, said the body was established to ensure that civil servants and residents access morgage for affordable houses.

He said all the statutory requirements have been put in place for the authority to function effectively.

Lere therefore called on the civil servants and residents to utilise the opportunity to access the new scheme.
