The Minister of Trade and Investment, Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, stated this when she led a delegation on a visit to Gov. Abba Yusuf Thursday in Kano.

She said the federal government would continue to focus on growing the economy and reducing poverty.

The minister reiterated the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to poverty reduction and economic revitalisation.

According to her, Tinubu’s administration is strategically focusing on job creation, capital accessibility, economic growth and poverty eradication to revamp the economy.

She said that the federal government would never shift ground in its determination to protect businesses in the country.

She said that in line with the eight-point agenda of Tinubu’s administration, the ministry was working assiduously in ensuring that industries were being revived, so that more job opportunities would be provided.

She said the purpose of her visit to Kano was to assess the level of industrialisation and gather data on the challenges that needed urgent attention, geared towards reviving the industrial development.

Uzoka-Anite maintained that the ministry was committed in ensuring that the export of value added products were being enhanced so that comparative advantages would be explored.

Responding, the governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shehu Sagagi, said his administration was committed to enhancing small scale industry,

He described the state as a commercial nerve centre of sub-Sahara Africa.
He appealed for more support from the federal government with the aim of boosting commercial activities in the state.

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Abbas Sani-Abbas, said his ministry had gathered commercial data with the aim of redesigning the commercial policy of the state.
