The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has implored Nigerians to see the federal government’s emphasis and support for the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as another form of palliative and as business opportunity.

It is said in a statement signed by its Chairman Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Sunday Shedrach Gyungoun that the initiative is one that was meant to provide succour for Nigerians as well as open up another level of economic activities.

“We note that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had at a meeting with the executives of the Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO) advised Nigerians to power their vehicles with Compressed Natural Gas as an alternative to fossil fuel.

“It is important to emphasize that CNG is a cleaner source of energy and environmental-friendly. Also, as a cheaper source of energy, CNG will be affordable to all classes of Nigerians, thereby creating more jobs and another round of economic activities in the country.

“We also acknowledge that Nigeria has a huge deposit of gas which over the years has remained untapped, and the attention the Tinubu administration is drawing to its use will greatly impact and stimulate the country’s economy as well as maximize its use within the country.

“Apart from CNG, it is gratifying that the federal government has gone further to stop the export of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) also known as cooking gas, as a means of mitigating the soaring prices of the product and meeting local demand.

“It is also gladdening that in its effort to make CNG available to all users, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) is establishing 40 CNG stations/depots across the country in order to o ensure easy accessibility for Nigerians.

“We therefore call on the citizenry to auscultate to the advice of the President by massively signing up to the CNG initiative which at N200 per standard cubic meter is cheaper than its PMS equivalent of N1000 a litre,” the group added.

TMV also urged those saddled with the responsibility of ensuring easy accessibility to CNG kits, especially for commercial operations, to live up to their responsibilities.
