The ReNewed Hope, ReNewed Patience Group has said that Northern Nigeria has no business fielding a candidate in the 2027 Presidential election.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Citizen Tom Obulu and made available to newsmen in Abuja, the group argued that the north must be compelled to honour the zoning formula.

“We are calling on the Nigerian media to block any statements made by some of the politicians from the North, many of whom are worn out candidates that have been tested, failed and have become serial losers.

“Many of them are talking as if a politician from the North has not ruled for the previous 8 years and wasted development.

The north should concentrate on its lack of national leadership like Tafawa Balewa or Sardauna of Sokoto.

“For us, the new Tafawa Balewa or Sardauna of Sokoto are already rallying round president Bola Tinubu in the likes of the Shettimas, the Gandujes, the Matawalles, the Badarus and the Bagudus who are likely to emerge the new power brokers.

These are the true mobilisers of Northern votes and not the likes of Nasir elRufai, Atiku Abubakar or Shehu Mahdi making noise like sounds of fury that signify nothing and nothing.

“We are convinced that Atiku will fail again having relied on the South East in which the Ohanaeze representing the East have told him off and there is also Peter Obi who has said categorically that he will not go into any alliance whose interest is to seek power which is the sole agenda of former vice president Atiku Abubakar,” it added.

The group urged the masses in the North to ignore every effort to put them at odds with the Tinubu administration.
