In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, the group argued that the President’s message on the country’s diversity as a strength should resonate with all Nigerians

It said: “We note that President Tinubu has shown the way by using his presence at the Pope’s inauguration, where he also addressed the Catholic Bishops Conference led by its President Archbishop Lucius Ugorji, to rally Nigerians to see their diversity as a means of strength capable of uniting Nigerians for the progress and growth that we urgently desire.

“It is remarkable that as a leader, he has made a clarion call for Nigerians to use their diversity for prosperity, not for adversity.

“We can say that for the President as a Muslim to attend the Papal inauguration and promote inter-faith dialogue, tolerance among the various faiths and cooperation is a clear demonstration of maturity and ability to cater for all citizens irrespective of creed or ethnicity.

“We therefore enjoin leaders at all levels to emulate President Tinubu by promoting peaceful coexistence among the citizens. For us, this is the only way we can make progress as a people.”

The group added that a situation where communities or people are attacked or victimised on account of their religious beliefs should be discouraged.
