Progressivism: The Place of Ideology in Tinubu’s Management of Nigeria’s Economy

‎The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has said that recent security measures announced by President Bola Tinubu ‎will comprehensively address the hydra-headed problem.
‎
‎In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group described it as a major step towards rejigging the country’s security architecture.
‎
‎It said: “We the Tinubu Media Volunteers are impressed that following recent terrorists’ attacks in some parts of the country, especially on St Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri in Niger state and Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi state, the president took the bull by the horn and personally took the responsibility of overseeing the rescue of the Kebbi school children.
‎
‎”Also in furtherance of his hands-on approach towards restoring security to all parts of the country, the president also introduced other far-reaching decisions including directing the Army and Police to immediately recruit more men to tackle the problem.
‎
‎”We particularly acknowledge the directive to the Department of State Services (DSS) to deploy forest guards to “flush out terrorists in the country’s forests’’.
‎
‎”We also note with joy that the president, in the national address, charged the National Assembly to put the necessary machinery in motion towards enabling willing state governments to create their state police.
‎
‎”Similarly, he urged herders’ associations to take advantage of the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development to end open grazing and embrace ranching as a sustainable way of rearing animals
‎
‎”We believe that these measures are holistic and if implemented religiously, can help to address the perennial insecurity across the country.
‎
‎TMV described the measures as a bold move to fundamentally rejig the country’s security architecture to address the security challenges once and for all.
‎
‎End
