Average price of petrol hits N202.48 in November- NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), says the average retail price paid by consumers for Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) for November 2022 was N202.48.

This is according to the NBS Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch for November 2022 released in Abuja on Tuesday.

The report shows a 29.81 per cent increase when compared to the value recorded in November 2021 at N167.60.

“Comparing the average price value with the previous month of October 2022, the average retail price increased by 3.68 per cent from N195.29.

It said on state profiles analysis, Kwara State paid the highest average retail price for petrol at N217.14, followed by Enugu and Gombe states at N215.71 and N215.00, respectively.

Conversely, Ekiti state paid the lowest average retail prices for petrol, at N189.06, followed by Akwa Ibom at 189.33 and Delta at 190.00.

Analysis by zone showed that the North-Central recorded the highest average retail price in November 2022 at N207.35, while the South-South recorded the lowest price at N194.58.

The NBS also revealed in its Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) Price Watch Report for November 2022 that the average retail price paid for diesel by consumers was N808.87 per litre.

It said the November 2022 price amounted to a 191.14 per cent increase from the N277.83 per litre recorded in November 2021.

“While on a month-on-month basis, the price increased by 0.97 per cent from N801.09 recorded in October 2022.”

On state profile analysis, the report said the highest average price of diesel in November 2022 was recorded in Ebonyi at N869.00, followed by Plateau at N865.00 and Nasarawa at N858.89.

On the other hand, the lowest price was recorded in Akwa Ibom at N750.00 followed by Benue at N772.00 and Borno at N780.50.

In addition, the analysis by zone showed that the North-Central had the highest price at N826.88, while the South-South had the lowest price at N783.73.
