The Public Relations Officer, IBEDC, Ms Busolami Tunwase, stated in Ibadan on Saturday: “I am not aware that they have given us any such directive. It is NERC that does the whole thing and I am not sure. I am not at work yesterday but I don’t think there is any such directive.

“But the moment we get the directive then we will announce it and we will commence based on instructions from NERC. So, I am not aware right now.

“Maybe yesterday while I was not at work such a directive was given but I have not gotten any instructions to inform the media or to do anything like that. If there had been such a directive I would have known for engagement’s sake. Let me find out,” Tunwase said.

There had been resistance to the proposed new tariff since the news hit the airwave, generating reactions from stakeholders as to the timing of the increment as well as poor service delivery.

There were lots of people at IBEDC offices seeking to buy energy before the new tariff takes effect. But there has been congestion and network hindering the purchase of the energy.
