The Executive Director of the NEPC, Dr Ezra Yakusak , said the training held in Ohaji-Egbema council area of Imo, on Friday, was aimed at directing the attention of youths to non-oil exports for economic emancipation.

Yakusak, represented by the Council’s Coordinator in Imo, Mr Anthony Ajuruchi, urged youths of the area to think toward non-oil exports adding that the nation’s oil reserves were dwindling.

He called for a paradigm shift away from reliance on oil to non-oil products to sustain the nation’s economy and prepare for possible oil drain.

“ As part of preparation for the rainy day, we are shifting attention away from oil to non-oil products for export.

“ This is especially important for today’s youth as their future must be secured, hence this programme,” he said.

Speaking, President of the National Congress of Ohaji Youths (NACOY), Mr Tochi Nwosu thanked the NEPC for bringing the sensitisation to Ohaji youths and promised that the impact of the programme would definitely be felt in the entire 19 communities of Ohaji.

Also, women leader of NACOY, Suzanne Amadi, promised to further sensitize and mobilize more women to will embrace the campaign to join the export business.
