Exhibitors at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair have evolved strategies to attract and promote sales.
Some of the exhibitors say that the economic situation of Nigeria necessitated the need to evolve strategic marketing tools to boost sales.
The strategies included free drinks, product samples, discounts, free hairdos, free makeovers and gifts.
Mr Paul Maduakor, Sales Representative of Zenith Sports, said that customers would be given free polo top for every purchase of N10,000 and above.
“We are at the Fair to promote our Made-in-Nigeria sports-wear under our ‘Haggai Sports-wear” line, it should not be all about imported sport wear.
“We manufacture jersey used by the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation at the 2018 World Cup.
“We are here to let Nigerians know that we have top notch quality wears at affordable prices,” he said.
Mr Victor Mba, Marketing Officer, Scanfrost Appliances, said that the company evolved innovative plans to promote sales because of paucity of funds arising from the harsh economic climate of the country.
“For every freezer purchased at our stand during the fair, customers would get N18,000 worth of drinks, and a pressing iron for every washing machine purchased,” he said.
Also, Mr Ifeanyi Charles, Marketing Manager, Godrej Nig. Ltd, said that the company employed the services of professional hairstylist to give free hair do to every customer that makes a hair product purchase of N3,000 and above.
“Asides the free hair do, we are also giving hair products as gifts to customers, as a form of appreciation of their visit to our stand,” he said.
The fair which started on Nov. 2, would end on Nov. 11.
The fair was declared opened by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
