TUC calls on FG to solve naira, fuel crises

Lagos, Oct. 3, 2023: The Lagos State Council of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to immediately adopt and domesticate the Federal Government-Labour resolutions including the N35,000 wage award.

The state Chairman, Mr Gbenga Ekundayo, and Secretary. Aladetan Abiodun, made the call in a statement on Monday in Lagos.

The statement said “recall the national leadership of the labour centre went into a meeting with the government on Sunday Oct. 1, 2023, where agreements were reached as follows: N35,000 wage award for all categories of workers in government employ.

“Also, the Federal Government to fast-track the provision of Compressed Natural Gas buses to ease public transportation difficulties associated with the removal of PMS subsidy.

“Waiver of Value Added Tax on diesel will be implemented for the next six months to cushion production and transportation costs.

“The Federal Government commits to the provision of funds for micro and small-scale enterprises, among others, “ It said.

The statement said that the union had activated all necessary machinery to domesticate the resolutions and embark on actionable measures to press home its demands accordingly.

“We want to assure you that the union will not shirk her responsibilities or abdicate her duties until final implementation,“ it said.
