Smile finally visits nurses, now on enhanced salary entry point

Fresh nursing graduates have not gained a new entry level into the civil service as approved by the federal government after many years of clamour.

The new entry point is contained a formal official circular issued by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

The circular is with reference HCSF/SPSO/ODD/NCE/CND.100/S.8/72/S.8/72 signed by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan.

“The National Council on Establishments at its 43rd Meeting held from January 24 to January 28, 2022 at Abuja, FCT, approved the entry grade level for nursing officers into the Nigerian Public Service from SGL 09 to SGL 10 with effect from January 28, 2022.

“To qualify for the nursing officers cadre, the candidate must have undertaken: five years of undergraduate studies for the award of B.Sc. Nursing; one-year Post-Graduation Internship; one-year National Youth Service Scheme; and Nursing and Midwifery Council-registered and license to practise.”

“Senior Nursing Officer/Senior Nursing Tutor Grade Level 10; Principal Nursing Officer/Principal Nursing Tutor Grade Level 12; Assistant Chief Nursing Officer/Assistant Chief Nursing Tutor Grade Level 13; Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Nursing Tutor Grade Level 14; Assistant Director (Nursing) Grade Level 15; Deputy Director (Nursing)/Director (States) Grade Level 16; Director (Nursing) Grade Level 17,” the memo stated.
