Mr Mathew Osumanyi Dan’asabe, Information Officer, Press and Public Relations , Ministry of Power said this in a statement.

Aliyu made this known while receiving the Ambassador of Turkey to Nigeria, Mr Hidayet Bayratar along with two other delegates in office.

He said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s desire towards infrastructural development in the power sector was that the Nigeria electricity supply industry to be both owned by government and the private sector.

According to him, Nigeria and Turkey relationship was a long standing one which had culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Turkey and Nigeria in Oct 2021 to collaborate for mutual benefits.

Aliyu said various interventions were being put into the power sector of Nigeria.

He said the distribution aspect of the power sector in Nigeria was an area worth investing.

The Minister urged Turkey and the rest of the world to partner with Nigeria and to share experience in the fields of energy, renewable energy and energy efficiency.

In his response, the Turkey Ambassador to Nigeria said their visit was a follow-up to the MoU signed in 2021.

Aliyu added that Turkey was willing to assist and collaborate in areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency, share knowledge and experience in construction of and operation of Wind, Solar and hydroelectric power plants.
