In a speech at the launch of the commodity on Monday in Damaturu, Buni warned that the commodity should be sold to farmers only.

“Let me sound a warning that government would not condone any act of diversion or sabotage.

“Government officials entrusted with the sale and distribution of the commodity must ensure equitable sales and distribution to the 17 Local Government Areas,” he said.

The governor urged farmers not to sell the commodity, which they purchased at subsidised rate.

He advised them to use the input to cultivate crops and earn a living.

He said that a partnership was being perfected between the state and development partners for the implementation of Innovative Strengthening of the Small-holder Farmer Capabilities Programme.

Buni thanked the World Bank, Federal Government and African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for African Development for supporting the growth of agriculture in the state.

In a remark, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Mairo Amshi, commended Buni for prioritising agriculture by assisting farmers with subsidised fertilizer, agrochemicals and farm machineries.
