The Democratic Front (TDF) has hailed the recent approval by the Federal Government of 27 road projects valued at N3.9 trillion across fifteen states of the federation.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, TDF is enthused that President Bola Tinubu is turning the country into a massive construction site.

The statement read in part, “We are particularly thrilled by the approval of N3.9 trillion contracts by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at one sitting for infrastructural development of historical magnitude in 15 states.

“It is equally of importance to state that the inclusion of a 409-kilometre dual carriageway project in Niger State was a thoughtful and applaudable decision by President Bola Tinubu.

“The benefits of this historic approval for the construction of 27 major roads in 15 States to the economy are enormous. And it shows the determination of the Tinubu administration to significantly reduce the country’s infrastructural gap through the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Similarly, FEC’s approval of the road projects under the leadership of President Tinubu underscores a major benefit of subsidy savings to Nigeria and also reveals the extent of waste which 44 years of petroleum subsidy constituted to the nation’s economy.

“This latest approval, coupled with several infrastructural development projects located in different states, has confirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to his campaign promise to ensure equity in the spread of federal projects, contrary to the unfounded accusations of lopsided project allocation by the opposition.”

TDF commended President Tinubu for proving naysayers wrong on their negative comments about petroleum subsidy savings through multiple awards of contracts for infrastructural development across the country.

“The multiple awards of roads by the President have unwittingly justified the withdrawal of the petroleum subsidy by his administration in May 2023.

“Beyond infrastructural development, the projects will create multiple employment opportunities for the unemployed. It is a fact that construction projects of this scale, in any part of the world, reduce unemployment, thus killing two birds with one stone.

“It is necessary to add that Nigeria is currently witnessing the implementation of large-scale infrastructural development projects that could not have been executed when the petroleum subsidy regime was in place,” it added.

The group urged the President to remain resolute in his drive towards delivering the dividends of the removal of fuel subsidies to Nigerians.

End.
