Free Trade Zones: Nigeria increases licence validity period

During the period from January to June of this year, the free zone sector registered the largest number of jobs in the last 22 years, reaching the figure of 190,472 direct jobs, experiencing a relative growth of 11%, compared to the same period last year, whose figure was 171,682.

According to statements by Daniel Liranzo, executive director of the National Council of Free Zones, these levels of employment show the preponderance and strength that free zones have in generating new jobs, registering around 20,000 jobs. above those existing prior to the covid-19 pandemic.

Likewise, he expressed that all the productive activities of the sector registered an increase in jobs, during said period, mainly in the Manufacture of Tobacco and Derivatives, Medical Devices, Electrical Products, Textile Manufacturing, Call Centers, among others.

Expressed that the growth achieved in the number of jobs has been at the level of all the free zone parks, registering the greatest increases in the free zone parks of the North region and the province of Santo Domingo.

Liranzo explained that the trend registered in the increase in employment levels constitutes a factor of great importance for the country, because these contribute to boosting the economy and the social well-being of people, through the generation of new jobs. n of an economic spiral.
